Dr. John Funnell, OD

Dr. John Funnell’s undergraduate studies were at UCLA, and he received his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from U.C. Berkeley. Dr. Funnell has advanced expertise in contact lenses, refractive surgery, and children’s vision and learning.

He is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry (F.A.A.O.) and a co-founder of the Foundation for Learning Development. Dr. Funnell participates in FDA studies, lectures on practice management, and has mentored numerous optometry students and new graduates.

Dr. Funnell’s wife, Diane Burns M.D., is an obstetrician-gynecologist and they have three sons Forrest, Tom, and Johnny. Together they enjoy winter sports, bicycling, scuba, and travel. Dr. Funnell has been practicing at this office in Manhattan Beach since 1980 and enjoys the opportunity to be part of a dynamic optometry group that is dedicated to excellence in personalized vision care.
